WITH(IN).DIGITAL is a digital respite engaging Black artists, creatives, and the art curious in curated conversations about art, the creative process, and being Black on the internet in the 21st century.
What is WITH(IN)?
WITH(IN) recontextualizes the role of museum spaces by creating a digital platform by and for Black people to exist outside of dominant art world structures.
WITH(IN) recognizes technology is not a neutral zone and has historically been used to subjugate and surveil Black people, and seeks to mindfully and intentionally engage in social media practices.
WITH(IN) prioritizes and elevates Black perspective(s), thought(s), and knowledge(s).
WITH(IN)) acknowledges the Black Midwest as an under-recognized area within the greater art world and seeks to showcase the accomplishments, value, and innovations of present day Black artists practicing in or originating from the Midwest.
WITH(IN) seeks to build upon and learn from the philosophies and practices of disciplines such as Black digital humanities, Black speculative thought, afrofuturism, afronowism, and afropessimism (among many more).
